Construction punch list
What is a construction punch list?
A construction punch list is a controlled register of defects or incomplete work that must be corrected and verified before closeout.
Definition
Each punch item should identify the project location, describe the issue, name the responsible trade, carry a due date and retain photos or notes that show what was found. Status moves the item from open work to reported correction and verified acceptance.
The verification step matters. A subcontractor marking an item complete records its own action; the superintendent or other responsible reviewer confirms that the result is accepted.
A punch list is not a general task list
A task can represent any planned work. A punch item records a defect or incomplete scope and needs evidence, responsibility and acceptance. Mixing both in one checklist makes closeout status unreliable.

How digital punch lists preserve acceptance
Home Builder Software connects each defect to project, location, trade, deadline, photos and activity history. Correction and acceptance remain separate states so the closeout record shows who reported and who verified the result.
